Anger is simply the primitive way to defend ourselves by helping make us stronger and braver. Back in the times of cavemen and cavewomen, this meant we could protect ourselves against wild animals and other wild tribesmen.

That feeling of anger still exists even though the world has changed. Sometimes in daily life our brain can be triggered by something it perceives as dangerous and we release stress hormones to get us ready to fight or run. For some people this feeling can pass quickly, but for others it’s hard to get out of.  This can lead to other mental health problems and it can start to effect other areas in your life such as work or relationships and can also have an impact on your physical health.

Physical symptoms can include faster heartbeat, tense muscles, clenching your fists, tightness in your chest, feeling hot. Mental symptoms can include feeling tense or nervous, being unable to relax, being easily irritated, feeling humiliated, resenting other people.
